Greig, Maysie - Marriage Without a Ring. Collins. 1972, revised edition. First published as 'Cake Without Icing'. Orphaned since she was five, Jill Windgate has been brought up by an elderly aunt in the sheltered confines of a Hampshire village, and believes that the marriage tie is sacred. When she falls in love with Rick Allan, who is already married and makes no secret of it, her high ideals and her deep love for him are in conflict. Only the discovery that Rick's wife is unfaithful persuades Jil to see him again. Convinced that love will conquer everything, she goes away with Rick, but she finds that you can't escape the world, wherever you go, or your conscience... (flap). 7½" x 4¾", 160pp, cloth, hardback.
Ex-library (the wrapper has had its flaps removed and has been sellotaped to the boards; usual stamps; top-corner creases and 4 ish page-numbers marked [place marking] etc etc); slight page-edge browning/pages toned; good only but quite reasonable; with wrapper but I can't really comment on that other than that it has had its flaps cut with part of a flap with the story description inserted under the back plastic covering.
