Swahn, Sven Christer - The Twilight Visitors. Methuen, 1980 (1st UK). Translated from Swedish by Joan Tate. Anna is invited to spend the summer with Beatrix, an imaginative, delicate girl, in a strange and distrubingly haunted house. During that summer Beatrix tells Anna mysterious stories - she has heard an old family tale about the well and then something happens to her puppy; he is eventually found in the well. Gradually Anna becomes aware that the house and its ghosts, both real and imagined, have affected her friend Beatrix. Nothing is explained, nor are the possibilities of supernatural happenings totally rejected. Anna becomes aware of what has gone on in Beatrix's mind: the twlight visitors that haunt her, her family and in the end, Anna too. (Flap). 8" x 5", 160pp, dark-blue cloth, hardback. Top edges of boards sunned; very good, probably unread; complete with very good (sunned round edges; price-cut) wrapper.
