FitzStephen, William - The Life And Death Of Thomas Becket. Folio Society, 1962, second impression. This is one of the Society's 'wood-vaneer' sides editions. William fitzStephen's, one of Becket's clerks, dramatic story supplemented from other contemporary sources. The first English translation of about two-thirds of the text, which is based primarily on the account of William fitzStephen, supplemented with additions from other contemporary sources and with editorial links. (Folio Society). 10" x 6", 172pp plus 8 plates, quarter red art-leather with wood vaneer sides, gold spine lettering and decoration, hardback. Index. Printed on laid paper. Illustrated with historical material in monochrome. Probably unread; slightly sunned spine; slight wear to art-leather spine (less than usual); very good plue; complete with very good plus (slight shelf-wear) original, old fashioned style, slip-case. Also has a plastic wrapper (looks contemporary but is additional, not as issued) which has done a good job of protecting the art-leather spine from the usual rubs/wear found with this edition.
